How to find your suit size without going to a shop

Buying a suit online puts many people off for one reason: the fear of getting the size wrong. But there's a simple method that's more reliable than measuring your own body — measuring clothes that already fit you well.

Why measure your clothes rather than your body?

Measuring your body on your own is hard: the tape slips, we pull our stomach in without noticing, and we don't know how much room we want. A garment you already wear and like has all of that sorted — it's the perfect template.

The 3 measurements you need

Take a pair of trousers and a blazer (or jacket) that fit you well, lay them flat on a table and measure with a tape measure:

1. Trouser waist — measure from one side of the waistband to the other, with the trousers buttoned, and multiply by two.
2. Leg length — from the waist to the hem, along the outside.
3. Sleeve length — from the blazer shoulder to the end of the sleeve.

Compare with the size chart

Each suit has the size chart for that model. Compare your measurements with the chart and choose the closest size. If you fall between two sizes, choose the larger one: it's always easier to take in than to let out.

Save your measurements once

In your Dilectus personal area you can save your measurements in your profile. Each suit is prepared with them before shipping, and you don't need to measure again for future orders — you can edit them whenever you like.

What if it still doesn't fit?

On suits, if it doesn't fit first time, we pay for the first alteration at a tailor of your choice. And you have 14 days from receipt to exchange or return, under our returns and exchanges policy.
